Over 250 competitors from 29 different European
countries competed this year in As.Li.Co. 56th Annual
Competition for Young Opera Singers of Europe. Preliminary auditions were held in London, Florence, Prague, Paris, Warsaw, Vienna, Leipzig, Palermo, and Como with Preliminary and Semi-Final rounds held on January 27, 28, and 29, 2005 at Teatro Sociale di Como. The Finals on January 30th, which were held in concert format before a packed theater audience, presented 16 singers performing arias by Charpentier, Thomas, Verdi, Puccini, Mozart, Donizetti, Bellini, Rossini, Gounod, Massenet, and Cimarosa. Below is a list of winners and the roles they will present during As.Li.Co. and the Circuito Lirico Lombardo's 2005 season:
